Another day, another record for Adele
Adele’s 2011 release ‘21’ has broken yet another record, becoming the first album to surpass the 3 million mark in digital sales, according to Nielsen SoundScan.
Sales for the album remain high despite being released almost three years ago. ‘21’ topped the year-end chart in 2011 and 2012, and was the 21st best-selling album of 2013. Aptly, it was also the 21st album to sell 10 million copies, continuing the record’s coincidental connection to the number 21.
‘21’, the singer’s second album, also won a host of awards, including three American Music Awards, seven Grammys and the British Mastercard Album of the Year at the Brits.
The 25-year-old was forced to undergo surgery at the end of 2011 to repair damaged vocal chords, but returned to co-write and record ‘Skyfall’, the theme to the latest James Bond movie, which won her an Oscar for Best Original Song.
She is reportedly working on a third studio album, which could be released this year.
