Carly Rae Jepsen is set to make her Broadway debut in the title role of the Rodgers and Hammerstein musical Cinderella.
The ‘Call Me Maybe’ singer tweeted, “I am going to be playing Cinderella on Broadway starting Feb. 4th!” adding that it was a “dream come true”.
Jepsen will replace actress Laura Osnes in the role for the 12 week run.
Speaking about the role, she told the New York Times, “It’s so hopeful and inspiring. I’ve always been one to believe in the impossible, so I relate to her character completely.”
Prior to her pop career, the 28-year-old performed in school productions of Annie, The Wiz and Grease before attending the Canadian College of Performing Arts.
Jepsen is also working on a new album planned for release next year. Her 2012 single ‘Call Me Maybe’ propelled her into stardom, selling over 10 million copies and becoming the best-selling digital single worldwide.
